Blake Allen is a composer and violist living in Hells Kitchen NYC emphasizing in contemporary music and theatre. A published poet at age 7, Blake made his classical debut at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2016. Blake was also a 2014 Artist-in-Residence at the Banff Centre, in Alberta, Canada. In 2017 Blake will be presenting his newest musical, Boston|Nebraska, as an Actors’ Equity Staged Reading (April) as well as a concert production of his biographical musical the shards of an honor code junkie (December) which will benefit the Trevor Project and Soul Force. Blake had solo show at 54 Below in 2016 as well  being an arranger and performer there many times. Blake also presented an AEA reading of shards in February 2015. Blake additionally wrote the background music for Carnivorous at Magic Future Box (2013) and wrote music, additional lyrics, co-orchestrated, and performed in Jaclyn Backhaus’ Folk Wandering, which has played Joe’s Pub and SoHo Rep, and will be a part of Pipeline Theatre Co. 2018 season.

As a violist, Blake has soloed with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra as well as given the NY, EU, and Canadian premieres of Judith Shatin’s Penelope’s Song. Blake has also been principal of the Little Orchestra Society, frequently plays with the New York Pops, performs on Broadway, is a prolific recording artist, and has performed at every major hall in NYC.

Blake received his Masters in Music with honors from New York University in 2014 and has been Rob Fisher’s Music Assistant for 5 years.
